Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
